These are photos of the Peerless India eight-inch driver.
The interesting thing is that the 4", the 5.25", the 8" and the 10" all look exactly the same, other than size and weight. Therefore, even this pair of photos should be a good starting point to let you understand their construction. They all have powder-coated stamped sheet-metal baskets, coated paper cones and rubber surrounds. Personally, I think they are quite similar to Dayton's classic range of woofers.
Those who have measured T/S parameters and SPL of these drivers indicate that they have very benign cone breakup (characteristics of paper cones and rubber surrounds), adequate power handling for domestic use, and can be mated to reasonable tweeters very easily. In fact, the 8" driver has been used in a TM 2-way standmount speaker and works very well, if you ignore some beaming in the upper midrange (expected, because of the driver's size). The 10" has two versions, with large and small magnets. The large-magnet version can be an excellent woofer for a 3-way TMW configuration.
